BLEPHAROPLASTY

facial cosmetic surgery

WHAT IS BLEPHAROPLASTY
TYPES OF BLEPHAROPLASTY
DURATION AND RESULTS

Blepharoplasty is a facial cosmetic surgery procedure aimed at correcting and removing excess skin and fat from the upper and/or lower eyelids. This procedure not only enhances the aesthetic appearance of the eyes but can also address vision problems caused by eyelid ptosis.
Blepharoplasty can be performed in several ways: Upper Blepharoplasty: Removes excess skin and fat from the upper eyelid through a hidden incision in the eyelid crease. Lower Blepharoplasty: Targets the lower eyelid, removing “bags” and excess skin via an incision just below the eyelashes. Upper and Lower (Combined): A comprehensive approach treating both eyelids in a single procedure. Transconjunctival Blepharoplasty: Ideal for younger patients without excess skin, this technique removes under-eye bags through a small incision inside the eyelid. Canthopexy: A procedure that adjusts the outer corner of the eye to improve or modify its shape.
The results of blepharoplasty are long-lasting and can endure for 10 years or more. Several factors influence the longevity of the outcome, including facial structure, fat deposits, skin age, wrinkles, underlying bone structure, hormonal influences, and lifestyle habits. In some cases, a touch-up procedure may be needed after 5 to 10 years to maintain optimal results.

REPEATING THE PROCEDURE

Blepharoplasty can be performed multiple times, but it is recommended to wait several years between procedures to ensure the desired results and to minimize risks.

POST-OPERATIVE CARE

After blepharoplasty, it is advisable to avoid physical activities for at least a month, direct sun exposure, rubbing or pulling on the eyelids, wearing contact lenses or makeup, and to refrain from smoking and alcohol consumption.
